Fiyaa Satani

Satani is like a chutney. It gives that extra crunch and oomph to classic Maldivian rice and curry meals. While there are many types of local satani, the one below is the version made with onions.

Serves: 2-3

Ingredients:

  • 1 onion
  • ¼ scotch bonnet pepper (or to taste)
  • ½ lime
  • ¼ tsp. salt (or to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Slice the onion and scotch bonnet pepper thinly.
  2. Squeeze in the lime, and using your fingers, squash, squeeze and mix all the ingredients together until the onions release their juices.
