Beef & Tomato Pasta

Imagine warm pasta coated in a tangy meat sauce. It’s rich, flavourful and delicious. And on top of everything, it’s also too easy to make.

This Ramazan, we’ve partnered with Pyramid to bring you some lip-smacking recipes and in this recipe, we make use of one of Pyrmid’s Reggia Pasta Promo Packs.

Each pack includes a can of Reggia Polpa Di Pomodoro chopped tomatoes, a packet of Reggia spaghetti or pasta, and a bottle of Reggia pasta sauce such as Sugo Alle Olive and Sugo Alla Arrabbiatta.

We really liked the Reggia sauces. For the recipe below, we used the Sugo Alle Olive sauce, and it had both black and green olives in it. Another thing about Pyramid’s Reggia Pasta Promo Packs that we should mention is that they really do take away the hassle of getting all the ingredients together.

Serves: 6

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet Reggia penne pasta
  • 1 bottle Reggia Sugo Alle Olive sauce
  • 1 can Reggia Polpa Di Pomodoro chopped tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 340 grams corned beef
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tsp. ground black pepper (or to taste)
  • 2 basil leaves (optional)
  • 1/2 githeyo mirus (optional)
  • 10 cups water

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Add pasta, ½ tsp. salt and 1 tbsp. olive oil.
  3. Put a lid on the pot and let the pasta cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until it’s soft but not mushy.
  4. Drain the cooked pasta and keep aside.
  5. Mince the onion and garlic. If you are using basil and githeyo mirus, mince them too.
  6. Heat a large pan, and add the corned beef. Keep the heat at medium and cook until the beef begins to take on a brownish colour.
  7. Add 2 tbsp. of olive oil to the pot and add in the onions.
  8. Once the onions begin to turn transparent, add in the garlic and cook until the garlic has softened; the garlic would cook in less than a minute.
  9. Add the chopped tomatoes and mix well.
  10. Add the pasta sauce, 1 tsp. salt, ground black pepper, minced basil, githeyo mirus, and on low heat, cook for 15 minutes while stirring.
  11. You can serve the pasta and the beef & tomato sauce separately or mix them together. We prefer to serve them separately.

Note: You can also add some cheese on top if you want to.
