Kanamadhu Chocolate Fudge

Here's a perfect recipe for the times when you need a quick sweet treat. You can whip this up in less than twenty minutes and all you have to do is melt, mix and chill. The taste of the fudge largely depends on the quality of the cocoa powder you use, so just get the best cocoa you can find.

Makes: 16 pieces (we cut ours into around 2 inch squares, but you can make them smaller.)

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ tbsp salted butter
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 40 Marie biscuits
  • 40 grams kanamadhu
  • 1 tsp vanilla essense

Instructions:

  1. Crush the Marie biscuits, you don't have to crush them to fine little pieces, just crush them enough so that there are not too many large chunks. Do the same for the kanamadhu.
  2. Coat the tray or container you are going to use for setting the fudge with a little bit of butter. (We made ours in a 8 inch square container. Whatever container you use, just put in the mixture to a height of around 1 inch and it's going to turn out fine.)
  3. In a large saucepan melt the butter over low heat.
  4. Add the condensed milk, cocoa powder, vanilla essense and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on low heat while stirring, so that the mixture becomes smooth.
  5. To the mixture, add the biscuits and the kanamadhu and stir well to combine.
  6. Switch off the heat and pour the mixture into the container that you prepared. You'll need to move a bit faster at this stage as the mixture would begin to set.
  7. Smooth the top of the mixture a bit with the back of a spoon and leave it in the fridge, covered, for 2 hours.
  8. When the fudge is set, cut it into square portions.
