Let’s face it; being Maldivian, we can eat tuna for every meal of the day, and yet somehow not even notice it. So, we’ve rounded up our favourite tuna recipes on Lonumedhu so far, including curries, hedhikaa and more.
We are starting off the list with Kulhi Riha since it’s one of our favourite curries; and yes, the hotter the better.
Second on the list is Kulhi Mas, another spicy number that we actually won’t mind if we had to have it all day every day.
Toasting spices over the stovetop, what a difference that makes. Third on our list is this very aromatic and very wonderful dry curry.
This is probably the most special way of preparing fish here in the Maldives. Our ancestors have even gone that far as to name it the chicken of the sea.
Moving away from curries, here at number five we have the beloved Mas Baiy, as a list of tuna recipes would really be incomplete without it.
At number six is this very delicious local invention that’s been really popular here during the last few years.
Or perhaps we simply just love putting Valhomas into everything, and Valhomas in kothu, in our opinion is just splendid.
Moving on to Hikimas recipes, here we have the very yummy for breakfast Seeni Sambol that we borrowed from Sri Lanka.
And another Hikimas recipe: Mas Kurolhi. What can we say? It’s just good with everything.
And rounding up our list is some Hedhikaa; we’ve got Havaadhulee Bis, Riha Folhi, Mas Roshi, Kulhi Boakibaa and Bajiyaa. Go easy with canned tuna or just go all the way with Valhomas.
