Co-shared kitchen for home food businesses

Business Center Corporation (BCC) has announced their plan to establish a co-shared kitchen to assist home based food entrepreneurs develop and scale their business.

The project is an initiative from the Ministry of Economic Development and is funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Maldives' Sustainable Economic Empowerment and Development for SMEs (SEEDS) project.

According to BCC, co-shared kitchens would provide food entrepreneurs and start-ups a comfortable space to test their business and grow organically without the added pressure of paying a hefty rent and buying commercial kitchen equipment.

The licensed and fully equipped food grade commercial kitchen which is to be established in Hulhumale’would be the first of its kind in the Maldives.

BCC also aims to use the co-shared kitchen to encourage the hiring of local culinary talents by the local tourism industry.
